East-West Arts Initiative Gala Concert at St John’s Smith Square
The East-West Arts Initiative presents a programme of orchestral music and operatic highlights, featuring emerging Chinese and European artists. The programme, whichjuxtaposes favourite western classical music and with works by Chinese composers, celebrates the 45th anniversary of full diplomatic relations between China and the UK.

The East-West Arts Initiative was set up to encourage cultural exchange between UK, Europe and China and to promote the collaboration between emerging classical musicians from China, Europe and the UK, bringing together international musicians committed to introducing classical music to a wider audience.

Details
2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and the Sino-Japanese War, both of which strengthened the world’s front against fascism. 2015 is also the year of the UK-China Cultural Exchange and to celebrate the UK Chinese Dance and Culture Association presents a concert of Chinese and Western Music which includes vocal and piano solo extracts from Xian Xing Hai’s Yellow River Cantata.
