Details
The East-West Arts Initiative presents a newly staged production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly with an exciting cast of young international singers, accompanied by the London International Sinfonia. The title role is sung by acclaimed Chinese operatic soprano Beibei Wang who, having trained in China and then in Italy and the UK, is amongst the many talented singers and instrumentalists from all over the world, who have benefited from the exceptional training and performance opportunities offered by London.
The production is directed by Harry Burton and conducted by Peter Knapp, who has had a long experience of presenting opera on the stages of London concert halls, as well as in major theatres throughout the UK and France.
This heart-rending story of the Japanese Geisha girl, who is bought and then abandoned by an American naval lieutenant, is brought sharply into focus within the intimate atmosphere and radiant acoustic of the Cadogan Hall.
Sung in Italian with English surtitles.
